Winter froze the river

And winter birds don’t sing

So winter makes you shiver

So time is gonna bring you spring

Some favourite song lyrics.

Steve McQueen jumped the first one clean

But the great escape

He tried to make was not to be

Maybe next time Steve

Kraftwerk: their 30 greatest songs, ranked! | Music | The Guardian:

From cycling soundtracks to anti-nuclear protest music, we celebrate the work of the late Florian Schneider and the groundbreaking group he co-founded

Good list.

Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories | Netflix Official Site:

Patrons of an otherwise mundane Japanese diner find simple yet profound connections with one another based on the shared love of a particular dish.

Took a chance on this last night and I loved it.

Carter, tears of terror mingling with make-up and the rain, squeezed the accordion. There was the long-drawn-out chord that by law must precede all folk music to give bystanders time to get away.

Another Terry Pratchett gem from Lords and Ladies. 💬

“They all laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian. Well, they’re not laughing now.”

Lots of bird activity in the back garden today. I think a robin is building a nest in one of the bushes.

Oh, won’t you stay

We’ll put on the day

Sad to hear that Dave Greenfield of The Stranglers has died. The Black and White album was one of the first records I ever bought and I still have the same copy.

They were both silent for a moment, and the silence wound out around them and filled the kitchen, to be sliced into gentle pieces by the soft ticking of the clock.

Terry Pratchett at his most poetic. I love this line from Lords and Ladies. 💬

I removed and re-added my Letterboxd feed and it seems to have posted every update for the last few weeks. Apologies to anyone whose micro.blog feed I might have flooded.

There’s a Twitter thing going around asking people to post a photo you’ve taken from a place you’ve been but you don’t appear in. “Just a pic, no description”. I’m doing it here.

Things just got serious. I’m drinking coffee instead of my usual tea! Kindle primed with books of prose poems and Japanese short stories. I downloaded Berlin Alexanderplatz too so plenty to read.

I’m trying my hand at writing little lipograms. A lipogram is a piece of writing that forces you to omit a certain letter eg the letter “e” which is the hardest to omit in English. It’s difficult but fun and gets the brain cells working.

I succumbed to the lure of Disney+ and signed up for a few months. The first thing I’m doing is watching every single Marvel movie in chronological order that I haven’t seen before i.e. all of them.

No trouble with “plant” today. Going for the literal.

I needed an external drive to rip CDs to flac files to play in my new music player. After looking at all of the cheap ones available I’ve gone for quality and ordered the old Apple USB SuperDrive. It costs more but looks like it won’t fall apart after a few weeks use.
